Blepharoplasty is a procedure to remove excess skin, fat and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct or reduce drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes — features that can make you look older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your vision.
This procedure may be done in conjunction with other procedures such as a browlift or facelift. A common mistake for some people is requesting eyelid surgery for heavy eyelids when in fact a browlift may be required.
Patients considering a blepharoplasty should be aware:
- At its simplest, blepharoplasty involves an external incision just under the lash line or just inside the lower lid.
- Bruising and swelling may be evident for a week or two but post operative advice will be given to help minimise this.
